Hi Balanced Beauties!
So I wanted to write a little about my journey, and my truth! I’ve come a long way from where I was to where I am now. In high school, I would never think to curl my hair or dress stylish. I actually didn’t care much at all about what I was putting into my body either.
It was my sophomore year in college where I began to change my overall lifestyle and challenge myself. It all started with taking a yoga class for college credits. I absolutely loved it. I immediately signed up for yoga school that following summer and became certified as a Vinyasa Flow teacher. The following year, I decided to train with Bryan Kest who is located in Santa Monica, California, and became certified in Power Yoga. Yoga became an outlet to release all of the stress and anxiety that comes with college, deadlines and assignments.
My experiences with yoga are what truly changed me and the way I began to treat myself. I became more present in my personal life, where I was finally living in the moment instead of thinking about the past or future. I was able to focus on myself, mentally and spiritually. I turned a very negative mindset into a positive one. I became more appreciative and grateful. Yoga has made me aware of my flaws and value the people who mean the most to me. It’s allowed me to love people deeper and appreciate all of the beautiful things that surround me.
What I am trying to say is, I was not always taking care of myself and I wasn’t always into fashion, beauty and especially health. I was not “born this way” (ha!). All of this started once I was able to break out of a bubble and become more self-aware. I realized that when I ate good, I felt good. When I exercised daily, my reactions to situations started to become more positive. For me, yoga went hand in hand to finding that balance, both physically and mentally.
